Update: This original post was from about 4 years ago. A new company is now running the complex. They are busy renovating most of the building . It is NOT great living here while all the chaos is going on. The ONE good thing they are doing is having a long-awaited second elevator put in for our 7-story, 96-unit building! Unlike many other reviewers, I actually LIVE here in Rivertown Commons, Stillwater- MOST of the older reviews that are bad are coming from Rivertown Commons in St.Paul! And a huge majority of residents that have lived here a long time have always felt a part of a community- and wanted to live out the rest of their lives at Rivertown Commons in Stillwater. That has all changed in the last year. Nearly EVERYBODY wants OUT. A lot of people LEFT already. Now, the waiting lists for all low income apartments anywhere near here are hundreds of applicants long, so no choices to move. The new company has taken away our designation to be : residents 62 and over- disabled-low income. Many residents no longer care to even leave their apartments and spend time socializing with each other. The workers literally took away every space in the building that we used to be able to talk to each other. The âreviewersâ from the past have ALL been non-residents (except the ones that have good reviews). The ones that complain the most have never even lived here, and/or the ones that are not happy living where there are LEASE RULES. If they want to go live where they can do whatever they want, then they need to move out. I hear Ramey Johnson has openings. Most people that are evicted from here for lease violations end up there. As far as cleanliness goes, we do have a housekeeper that does a great job. But tenants and their visitors have to be held responsible for their actions that make the messes and choose not to clean up after themselves. Yes, there are about 96 residents in the building-very rarely are there even 3 people using the laundry room at any given time- so there are plenty of washers and dryers for everyone- but again, tenants that use the facility need to be diligent and thoughtful of others and remove their wet clothes from the washers as soon as they are done, so others can use the washers. I have seen numerous times where they leave their clothes in the washer for hours or overnight because they are too lazy, inconsiderate, or just forgot their laundry. Then, everyone else has to wait. Itâs all about tenants being responsible for their own actions/inactions. Even 2 days after the new carpets were installed in the hallways, people were spilling coffee and there were unknown (pet)? stains on the carpets! The elevator issue is true. We have only one elevator. It is in use constantly, and it is old. But it is constantly being evaluated so that breakdowns will be minimal. PARTS are not locally available, so when they are waiting to arrive, there is an issue. But most people can take the stairs if necessary. Funny, the able-bodied tenants complain the loudest when the elevator is down. And we disabled people who cannot possibly navigate the stairs can just âwait it out.â It does no good to complain. And again, tenants prop the doors open to wait for their friends to get down the hallway to the elevator- which makes the elevator keep resetting. All of these things are issues with tenants not being considerate of anyone else. I love living here, and plan to stay. I ask everyone who complains: If you are that miserable here, MOVE out! And pay a LOT more rent elsewhere. Or be a part of the solution.

I have lived here just over two years and feel blessed to have been given the opportunity to do so. Management does an extraordinary job of handling issues that have arisen here, especially during COVID-19. Just love the job done with getting the windows cleaned this week.

I have lived at Rivertown Commons for nearly 4 years. I and my family are very thankful to have found an affordable, well managed complex where I feel safe! I have never lived in an appt. before so this was quite a different experience for me. I love my appt. I have never had a problem with being able to wash clothes and there are ample washers and dryers for time laundry room is open! We have had to get used to new management and maintenance due to retirement, then here comes Bonnie Jablonski to the rescue ! Want her to know how appreciated she is! So all in all, those who dont like it here have the option to go elsewhere . The rules we live by here are only for our best. A secure building is a safe one.
